A rooster next to a cocktail
Rooster Tail
Acrylics
8 x 10
2015

I’ve taken to reading an old paperback bartender’s guide as bedtime reading and dog-earing corners of drinks that remind me of animals I would love to paint. One of the first I tagged was a rooster tail. Because, my husband reminds me, “Chickens are decent people.

The term cocktail is disputed. Some people say it's because the first few drinks were stirred with a feather from a rooster's tail.

This painting is part of my Animal Spirit series. Spirits can be ghosts or the liquid containing ethanol and water that is distilled. Animal spirits can be guides to understanding personality or the future. Or, in this case, Animal Spirits are drinks associated with an animal, feathered, finned, scaled, or furred.

This painting comes framed. Contact the artist if you would like to see a picture of this painting framed.

My Etsy shop has cards and prints of this painting.
