Animal Spirits
No bull! This cow has horns and is a big fan of moo-nshine.
Moonshine has been around for nearly as long as the United States has. During the Revolutionary War, the country placed a federal tax on liquors and spirits to fund the war. Then, during Prohibition, moonshine flourished. While it is now legal in 49 states to make home-brewed beer and wine, it is illegal to make spirits at home without permits and licenses. Why? Cuz it’s pretty darn dangerous!
Making of moonshine is on the rise regardless of the legality, and this cow seems to have gotten a hold of a jug! I didn’t ask whether she imbibed.
This painting is part of my Animal Spirit series. Spirits can be ghosts or the liquid containing ethanol and water that is distilled. Animal spirits can be guides to understanding personality or the future. Or, in this case, Animal Spirits are drinks associated with an animal, feathered, finned, scaled, or furred.
