Pig wearing pearls drinking a martini
Pearls before Swine
Acrylics
9 x 7.5
2014

The phrase "Don’t cast pearls before swine" comes from the New Testament. The image in my mind when I hear this phrase is very close to the painting. In this painting, the martini is garnished with an onion or three. (Never 2, that’s considered bad luck.) If made with gin, a gin martini garnished with onions is called a Gibson.

This painting is part of my animal spriits series. Spirits can be ghosts or the liquid containing ethanol and water that is distilled. Animal spirits can be guides to understanding personality or the future. Or, in this case, Animal Spirits are drinks associated with an animal, feathered, finned, scaled, or furred.

This painting comes framed. Contact Animalfriendsportraits@gmail.com if you would like to see a picture of this painting framed.
